Golf Tournament – A New Partnership to Support the Georges Highland Path

Rockland, Maine - The Georges River Land Trust (GRLT) is excited to announce a new partnership with GrandyOats of Brownfield, Maine, in support of the Georges Highland Path. GrandyOats is the official 2012 namesake sponsor of the GrandyOats’ PUTT for the PATH Golf Tournament to be held at the West Appleton Country Club on Sunday, September 23, 2012, from 8:00 am – noon in Appleton, Maine. The format is a shot-gun start 18-hole scramble (best ball) with four golfers per team and no handicap. Registration is now open, and the entry fee is $30 for individuals, $120 for teams of four players. The entry fee includes greens fees, the use of one golf cart, a cookout lunch at the conclusion of play, and an assortment of prizes. All proceeds from the tournament will be used in support of the Georges Highland Path, a 40-mile conservation trail system. Hole sponsorships are also available to local businesses for $100. The Georges Highland Path, built and maintained by Georges River Land Trust, is a 40-mile system of “conservation trails” that gives hikers a unique look at the St. George River watershed. The goal of the Path is to help people forge a close relationship with the land and to develop an active interest in protecting this wonderful region. All proceeds from the golf tournament will be used to help maintain the Path as safe and enjoyable for hikers, including routine trail maintenance, new bog and foot-bridges, parking lot improvements, and seasonal trails staff.
