Boat Trip to Historical Damariscove Island Preserve

Boothbay Harbor, Maine - The Boothbay Region Land Trust (BRLT) invites you to climb aboard and join us on Saturday, September 15th for our annual boat trip to Damariscove Island Preserve. Just offshore of Boothbay Harbor, this island was home to one of the first European settlements in 1604. While the island is no longer inhabited by humans (besides seasonal caretakers in the summer months), it is prime habitat for a large diversity of plants and birds.

Visitors can enjoy the rustic island museum and hiking trails on their own or opt to join a guided hike. Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens Botanist Melissa Cullina will be exploring the islands flora while expert ornithologists, Allison and Jeff Wells, will be on hand to investigate the island’s bird population.

The boat will leave from Pier 8 in downtown Boothbay Harbor at 9 a.m. sharp with Balmy Day Cruises and returning to the harbor at approximately 3 p.m. Please bring a lunch, water, sturdy shoes, and sun protection. Tickets required for this event are $50 per person. Please contact the Boothbay Region Land Trust at (207)633-4818 or brlt@bbrlt.org to purchase tickets or for more information. RAIN DATE September 16th
