Portland Sea Dogs Help to Raise Awareness of "Invisible Wounds of War"

Portland, Maine - On August 19, more than 100 Maine military service members, veterans and their families will attend a baseball game and barbecue hosted by the Portland Sea Dogs.

This event is designed to raise awareness of the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program which provides clinical care and support services to service members, veterans and families affected by combat stress or traumatic brain injury (TBI).

The Sea Dogs game is part of the Home Base "Adventure Series," which brings military families throughout New England together for free activities designed to support family relationships during and after military deployments. Game tickets and BBQ food is generously donated by Napa Auto Parts and other local businesses.

Previous Adventure Series events have included winter skiing and ice fishing in Vermont and New Hampshire, sailing on the Charles River and skating on the Frog Pond in Boston, and a visit to the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, MA. This is the first year that Home Base will partner with the Sea Dogs to host this Adventure Series event designed specifically for Maine military families.
