Art for Stewardship Auction at David Scriven Crowley Gallery

Rockland, Maine - The David Scriven Crowley Gallery is hosting “Art for Stewardship,” an evening art auction and reception to benefit Georges River Land Trust, on Friday, September 7 from 5-9 pm. The auction will include pieces from local artists including Frank Bruckman, Mary Collins, Jared Cowan, David Scriven Crowley, Lois Dodd, Doug Hartley, Eric Hopkins, Bryan Jones, Tom O'Donovan, Daniel Seigel, and others. All the proceeds will go to support the long-term care and management of properties protected by the Land Trust.

“So many of our longtime supporters have come to us with creative ideas to help us celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Land Trust,” said Gail Presley, Georges River Land Trust Executive Director. “We are grateful to David and so many other local artists for donating their work to support stewardship of our conserved lands.”

David Scriven Crowley has been painting and creating works of art for over fifty years. He has exhibited widely and holds places in many private, corporate and museum collections. After spending most of his life on Cape Ann in Massachusetts, he has now made Cushing, Maine his home. He opened his gallery at 409 Main Street in downtown Rockland in 2009.

“I have been a member of the Georges River Land Trust for seven years,” said Crowley. “This auction is a way to give art enthusiasts the power to conserve the St. George River region, a source of inspiration for so many artists.”

The Art for Stewardship auction is being held in conjunction with the Rockland First Friday Artwalk with twenty-three participating galleries.
