“Crime and Poetry” at the Camden Public Library, 7:00 pm. Husband-Wife writers Paul Doiron and Kristen Lindquist offer a mixed-genre reading featuring excerpts from Doiron’s fiction interspersed with Lindquist’s poetry, which results in a uniquely resonant interplay of crime and poetry.

“The Ill-fated Polaris Expedition,” an illustrated talk by Dr. Richard Cornelia about America’s first attempt to reach the North Pole in 1871, Camden Public Library, 1:00 pm. Part of Camden’s Windjammer Festival.
Tuesday, September 4
Opening reception at the Camden Public Library for Keith Carver and Karl Gerstenberger’s photography exhibit, “From Hummingbirds to Whooping Cranes.” Don Reimer, well known speaker and author, will also offer his reflections on birding and photography. 7:00 pm.
Thursday, September 6
“Educate Malawi” visits Camden Library for slide talk, 2:00 pm. Karen Hardy will be riding her bicycle 500 miles along the coast of Maine to publicize the efforts of “Educate Malawi.”

“Rediscovering Millay” Concert featuring a musical evening of Millay poem settings performed by soprano Nancy Ogle and pianist Laura Artesani of the University of Maine School of Performing Arts. The concert is free, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library.
Saturday, September 8
“The Maine Coast in Millay’s Poems” at the Camden Public Library will feature readings, a slide presentation, and group discussion on “Renascence,” “Ragged Island,” and other poems of place in Millay’s work, with poets and scholars Linda Buckmaster, Kathleen Ellis, Judith Hakola, and Gary Lawless. Free. The Library and Whitehall Inn will co-host, 11:00 am at the library.
Saturday, September 8
Mountaintop Millay Marathon Reading of “Renascence” and other poems atop Mt. Battie, 2:00 pm. The Millay readings will feature poets Annaliese Jakimides, Gary Lawless, Carolyn Locke, Barbara-Maria, Jim Mello, Bruce Pratt, Karin Spitfire, and many others. Poets and community members are invited to drive (or hike, as Millay did regularly) to the top of Mt. Battie in Camden Hills State Park and meet at the Millay plaque at 2:00 pm.
Monday, September 10
Mike Stiler will present a talk on “Fearless Living: Nondual Inquiry,” an introduction to meditation, at the Wellness Series Brown Bag Lunch at the Camden Public Library at noon. The Wellness Series is co-hosted by the library and the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The Midcoast Audubon Society hosts a talk with naturalist Mike Shannon on “Habitats” at the Camden Public Library, 7:00 pm.
