MIDCOAST MUSIC ACADEMY NOW ENROLLING STUDENTS FOR FALL SEMESTER

Rockland, Maine - Midcoast Music Academy is a new community music school in Rockland dedicated to helping students of all ages and skill levels unlock their creative potential and express themselves through music. "Rockland's School of Rock" offers private, individualized music instruction on a variety of instruments, group lessons, music labs and workshops, as well as music enrichment programming for area schools and businesses.

This September, Director Tom Ulichny will be working with the Thomaston Grammar School and the Rockland Middle School offering two after-school music enrichment classes. The first class, The Rhythm Masters, is an African drumming group with a focus on writing and improvising traditional and contemporary grooves. In both the class and the final performance, students will play collectively and also have opportunities to showcase their talents with individual solos. The second class, The Songwriter's Workshop, will focus on a creative approach to songwriting, and students will write and perform an original tune by the end of the course.

Additionally, MCMA will be partnering with RSU 13's Adult and Community Education division to offer group guitar lessons at the McLain Building in Rockland. Beginning September 20th there will be a six week beginner guitar workshop, followed by a six week blues guitar lab starting on November 1st.

MCMA is also pleased to announce its new affiliation with Raising The Blues, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing music to children undergoing medical treatment or recovery, as well as children with physical, emotional or educational challenges. Through Raising The Blues, MCMA is proudly working with a number of students in the area by providing individual music instruction both in the studio and at the Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Midcoast Music Academy is currently accepting new students for a busy fall season. Visit www.midcoastmusicacademy.com or call 207-701-7410 for more information or to register for lessons--and let the music making begin!
