Hazelbaker Blasts Two Home Runs

Portland, Maine - The Binghamton Mets (65-69) scored two runs in the tenth inning to defeat the Portland Sea Dogs (65-68) 5-3 Sunday afternoon at Hadlock Field splitting the four game series.  Jeremy Hazelbaker blasted two home runs in the loss and Bryce Brentz collected his sixth consecutive multi-hit game with a 2-for-4 performance.

Wilfredo Tovar's RBI single to center off Michael Olmsted scored Juan Lagares to break a 3-3 tie in the tenth inning.  Centerfielder Shannon Wilkerson's throw to third struck Dustin Martin allowing Martin to scoot home for an insurance run.

Olmsted (1-2) took the loss allowing two unearned runs on one hit and two walks.  Olmsted is yet to surrender an earned run in 17 innings with the Sea Dogs.

Jeff Kaplan (2-0) earned the win tossing two innings of shutout relief.  Brad Holt earned his first save with a perfect tenth frame.

Binghamton starter Greg Peavey fired seven strong innings holding the Sea Dogs to six hits and three runs.

Binghamton out-hit the Sea Dogs 15 to 7 in the game.  Portland starter Jeremy Kehrt surrendered a season high 12 of those hits in five innings of work but held the Mets to three runs.

The Mets immediately battled back scoring two runs off Kehrt in the second inning.  Raul Reyes scored on a ground out by Juan Centeno and Reese Havens chipped-in with a RBI single as the Mets took a 2-1 lead.

Portland came right back in the third inning when Hazelbaker launched his second home run of the game, a two run shot giving the Sea Dogs a 3-2 lead.  Hazelbaker has a team high 19 home runs.
