Children’s Author Reading at the Blue Hill Public Library

Blue Hill, Maine - Blue Hill children’s author Christina Montano will read from her new book, The Yellow Coat at the Blue Hill Public Library on Saturday August 25th at 12:30 PM. The Yellow Coat is Montano’s first book, inspired by a true story involving her husband, Nielsen.

In the story the boy loves his yellow coat so much that he only takes it off at night while he sleeps. One night he dreams that it is being cut up into pieces, and awakes to find that his mother is downstairs at her sewing machine, cutting and altering it to fit his growing body. The book is beautifully illustrated by Montano’s mother-in-law AdĂ© Van Duyn, with large colorful pictures which include delightful incidental depictions of the family cat’s antics as well as those of a little mouse that is often nearby.

Christina Montano is a healer, writer and filmmaker. She has a master’s degree in holistic living. About the book she says, “It is my sense that most adults have important childhood memories connected with beloved objects such as a coat, a blanket or something else. It is the heartfelt relationship to such objects that illustrates a child’s heightened awareness and intuition.”

The event is open to everyone, and books will be available for sale and signing. For more information contact the Library at 374-5515.
