The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) today announced that 100,000 non-event tickets for the Olympic Park have gone on sale for the Paralympic Games.
These tickets will not allow access to the sporting venues within the Olympic Park, but will allow ticket holders to experience the atmosphere of the Park and watch Paralympic sport on the big screen.
The tickets going on sale are for various days throughout the Paralympic Games and will cost £5 for adults and £1 for young people under the age of 16 and those over the age of 60. Tickets can only be bought at www.tickets.london2012.com. Wheelchair users can purchase tickets by calling 0844 847 2012.
LOCOG is encouraging all customers who are purchasing tickets to select the ‘print at home’ option, to enable them to avoid potentially long queues at ticket box offices.
Seb Coe, Chair of the London 2012 Organising Committee said: ‘I’m thrilled that we can give even more people the opportunity to experience the Olympic Park, soak up the atmosphere and perhaps catch some Paralympic action on the big screen. We wanted to give as many people as possible the opportunity to visit the Olympic Park and releasing more tickets is part of this commitment.’
In recognition of Visa's longstanding support of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, only Visa (debit, credit and prepaid) can be used to purchase tickets.
Approximately 2.3m tickets have now been sold for the Paralympic Games - more than any previous Paralympic Games. Remaining tickets will be released for sale on an ongoing basis viawww.tickets.london2012.com.
An additional 40,000 Paralympic sport tickets also went on sale today across a range of sports, including Athletics and Wheelchair Basketball.
As well as Olympic Park non-event tickets, the other types of Paralympic Games tickets are:
Reserved seating which means that each individual ticket is assigned a specific seat in the venue and only the ticket holder may occupy the seat. This seating type applies to Athletics, Track Cycling, Swimming and the medal event sessions in some other sports.
General admission seating which means that you can choose your seat on arrival at the venue on a first come, first served basis – and of course where tickets are bought for a specific session on this basis there will always be enough capacity to seat all ticketholders. Apart from some finals, this ticket type applies for Rowing, Equestrian, Road Cycling, ExCeL sports, Archery, Shooting, Wheelchair Basketball and other Olympic Park sports not included above.
An Olympic Park multi-sport day pass gives access to all sports in the Park on a given day other than Athletics, Cycling, Swimming and the finals of some other sports. These sports include Goalball, Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Rugby, Wheelchair Tennis, 5 a side Football and 7 a side Football.
An ExCeL multi-sport day pass gives access to all ExCeL sports on a given day, other than Sitting Volleyball finals. The sports are Table Tennis, Judo, Sitting Volleyball, Wheelchair Fencing, Powerlifting and Boccia.
Customers are advised to purchase London 2012 Paralympic Games tickets only through official sources. It is illegal to sell London 2012 Paralympic Games tickets without the permission of LOCOG. Any website or individual claiming to have tickets for sale should be checked against the list of official outlets on the London 2012 ticketing website.
