Music and Movement for Infants and Tots - Blue Hill Public Library
BLUE HILL, ME - The Blue Hill Public Library is pleased to announce a special weekly music and movement program for infants and toddlers on Wednesdays during the first half hour of the Library’s Playgroup. Starting April 25th at 10:30 AM, the sessions will be led by early childhood music educator Debora Reinke. Caregivers and children will listen, chant and physically respond to age-appropriate songs that encourage language skills and stimulate brain development. Along with the music, Deborah will use silk scarves, musical instruments and other items during the sessions. The program will go through May 30th.
In conjunction with these sessions the library will be circulating kits of music cds, musical instruments and songbooks for parents to check out. Families will be able to bring home what they learn from Deborah’s program and continue to provide a rich musical environment for their children at home.
The music sessions and new library materials are possible in part by a grant from the Rose and Samuel Rudman Library Trust and a contribution from the Friends of the Library. The trust was established in 1986 to help libraries better serve smaller communities in Maine.
Space is limited so registration is required. Parents can register themselves and their children for each session they want to attend on the Library’s interactive events calendar at www.bhpl.net or by calling the Library at 374-5515.
