AUGUSTA, ME - On Saturday, April 28, 2012, at 6:00 pm, First Lady Ann LePage will address National Guard service members and their families at the State Family Readiness and Teen Symposium at the Samoset Resort in Rockport.
The event is a two day event that is offered each year to National Guard members and their families. Over 220 adults and 70 teens are expected to attend the conference this year. The conference will include training workshops on a broad range of topics, from deployment readiness, to team support for returning service members and their families.
“Having a spouse or a parent deploy can be an incredibly traumatic experience, for not just the individual, but the entire family unit,” said First Lady Ann LePage. “Family Readiness offers critical support to the whole family, during this incredibly stressful time. The ability of family members to hold down the fort at home enables our service members to serve courageously and protect our nation,” continued the First Lady.
First Lady Ann LePage has made military service members and their families her primary focus. She has been an outspoken advocate for military families since becoming First Lady in January 2011.
