ELLSWORTH, ME - The Grand, in collaboration with the Ten Bucks Theatre Co., is excited to announce a theatrical production, directed by Ben Layman, of Oscar Wilde’s classic comic romp “The Importance Of Being Earnest” on Thursday May 10th through Saturday May 12th and Thursday May 17th through Saturday May 19th at 7:30pm, with a special Sunday May 20th matinee show at 2pm.

"I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read in the train."

"The good ended happily, and the bad unhappily. That is what Fiction means."

These lines (and much, much more) could have only been written by the supreme composer of epigrams, Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde (16 October 1854 – 30 November 1900) who wrote the above lines in his best-known play “The Importance Of Being Earnest” in 1895. The story concerns two young gentlemen living in 1890's England who have taken to bending the truth in order to put some excitement into their lives.

“This production is a chance for us to collaborate with a successful local theatre company like Ten Bucks,” said Grand Executive Director Zoe Alexis Scott, “and to re-ignite community theatre at The Grand.”  So bring a friend… and share the experience of Wilde’s classic high-farce comedy on Thursday May 10th through Saturday May 12th and Thursday May 17th through Saturday May 19th at 7:30pm, with a special Sunday May 20th matinee show at 2pm.
