Belfast Maskers Invites Audiences to Steel Magnolias in Belfast and Searsport Theatre Company Producing 25th Anniversary Season

BELFAST, ME - The Belfast Maskers continues its twenty-fifth anniversary theatre season with their production of Steel Magnolias, by Robert Harling in April. Steel Magnolias is set in Louisiana, in the beauty parlor of Truvy Jones. Six women share laughs, stories and insults amidst the hairspray, while engaging the audience in hilarious, and sometimes poignant, gossip. As the character, Shelby, says, “I would rather have thirty minutes of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special.”

Directed by Angela Bonacasa, Steel Magnolias features Sunny Kirkham, Linda Leppanen, Andrea Littlefield, Valerie Philbrick, Savannah Szumilas and Sonia Vasquez in the six female roles. Performances will be held at the Waldo County Shrine Club in Belfast (85 Northport Avenue), April 20 and 21 at 7 pm and April 22 at 2 pm. The show will also be performed the following weekend in Searsport at Union Hall (Town Hall) April 26, 27, 28 at 7 pm and April 29 at 2 pm. Admission for all performances is $15 for adults; $10 for teens and $5 for children. For more information, call 338-9668 or send email to maskers@roadrunner.com.
