Rebar pitches Ponies past Dexter

DOVER-FOXCROFT, ME - Ryan Rebar threw six shutout innings—striking out seven batters, walking one, and yielding just one single—in Foxcroft Academy's 4-2 victory over Dexter at FA on Thursday afternoon. The win improves FA to 2-0 and drops Dexter to 0-1.

The Ponies’ offense did all its scoring in the first two innings. After one-out walks to Kaleb Smith and Rebar in the bottom of the 1st, Cameron Fadley dropped an excellent bunt down the third-base line. Tigers’ pitcher Casey Jordan fielded the ball and threw wildly to first, with the ball ending up in right field. By the time all the dust had cleared, Smith and Rebar had scored and Fadley was standing on third base. A wild pitch then scored Fadley, extending the Ponies’ lead to 3-0. In the bottom of the second, Luke Olson was hit by a pitch, advanced to second on a passed ball, moved to third on a Caleb Richard single, and scored on an error. The score remained 4-0 until the top of the 7th, when the Tigers used a single, walk, sacrifice fly, and error to score two runs (one unearned) off relief pitcher Jesse Provost.

The Ponies made solid contact throughout the game but mustered just five singles (Olson, Richard, Fadley, Cody Coiley, and Hunter Law) on a day in which the wind was gusting in from left field. Casey Jordan (5 innings, 4 hits, 3 walks, 2 Ks, no earned runs) and Matt Crane (1 inning, 1 hit) pitched well for the Tigers.
