Three New Artists Added to Roster at Falmouth Gallery

Three New Artists Added to Roster at Falmouth Gallery
Editor: David Mills

FALMOUTH, ME - A new exhibit of colorful springtime images by three new artists fills the walls at Couleur Collection, a women’s clothing-jewelry boutique and art gallery located at 240 US Route One,  Falmouth, ME 04105 until May 31st.   They join nine other artists who regularly show in the gallery.  Two of the new artists; Mary Berry of Freeport and Rachel Maher who lives in Southern Maine, both work in traditional media.  However New England native (Cape Neddick & Fryeburg ME, Tyngsboro MA) Ann Tracy, who moved to Colorado in 1969 and came back from away (Sacramento CA) in 2011, shows work in the digital realm.  An artists’ reception will be held, Thursday, May 3rd from 5 to 7 pm.  Appetizers and beverages will be served and the event is free and open to the public.

“I’m very excited to showcase these three artists”, said Couleur Collection owner and an artist herself, Marcia Feller.  “This work seems to deeply reflect the wonderful spring we are now having in Maine.  Although each of these artists uses different tools and media, there is a great balance in this show.  We are lucky to have four-thousand square feet of wall space to give art lovers more than just a taste of work by these three talented artists.”

Berry, a former interior decorator, uses oil and acrylics to paint the stunning images and landscapes here in Maine.  She looks for color, pattern and design that work in a pleasing composition that conveys the spirit of the beauty here.  Maher, a native Mainer, expresses her fascination with nature in a medium (water color) that challenges the artist to let go, and allow the image to emerge from the heart.  Tracy’s digital woodcuts begin as photographs capturing the beauty of flowers and are then taken into two different software programs to create her one of a kind look.

The other artists who regularly show at the gallery space are:  Marcia Feller, acrylics; Kathy Foster, photography; Elizabeth Andrews, photography; KDB - Karen Dominquez, acrylic and encaustics;  Anne Macleod, pastels; Maddie Lou Chaplin, pastels; Sidney Lincoln, collage; Leigh Merriman,  oil and Diana Johnson, acrylics.

In addition to providing exhibition space for Maine artists, Couleur Collection has also received the Governor’s Award for Business Excellence (2004) and the Institute For Family Business honored them for their commitment to the community with the Community Service Award (2005).  Owner Feller will also have a show of her paintings at a Chelsea gallery in New York this coming May.
