A Total of Twelve Tall Ships Will Attend the 50th Annual Windjammer Days Festival!

BOOTHBAY HARBOR, ME - The Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the Schooner Bowdoin will be attending the  50th Annual Windjammer Day’s Festival  making the total number of ships 12 and one of the best turnout of windjammers in recent years.  This event is scheduled to take place June 24 th - 27th with the schooners in Linekin Bay on the 26th and in the harbor on 27th.

Maine Maritime Academy's, The Schooner Bowdoin, was completely rebuilt in the 80's at Percy & Small Shipyard, Maine Maritime Museum in Bath.  This 88 foot wooden schooner was originally launched in 1921 by Hodgdon Brothers Shipyard in East Boothbay.  The Bowdoin made 26 voyages to the Arctic between 1921 and 1954 and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1989.

“We are thrilled to have such an amazing fleet of tall ships for our 50th annual Windjammer Days.  This group of 12majestic ships will make our event a spectacular celebration honoring their important place in Boothbay's history," said Catherine Wygant, Executive Director at the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce.
