BREWER, ME - The FA girls’ outdoor track team accumulated 32 points to place fifth out of eight teams at Saturday’s season-opening meet at Brewer High School. Caribou, Brewer, and Old Town took the top three spots. Freshman Fern Morrison was runner up in both the 400 meter dash and the 800 meter run for the Ponies, and Chelsie Oldfield finished third in the 800 meter run and in the 1600 meter run. Annie Rich, Chastity Vainio, Jenny Boyer, and Monica Miles picked up the Ponies’ other four points with a fourth-place showing in the 4x100 meter relay.
The boys’ team scored 61 total points, placing them sixth out of eight teams. Brewer, Caribou, and Ellsworth secured the top three spots.Ryan Wang won the 100 meter dash and placed fourth in the javelin, Zach Smith was runner up in the 800 meter run, Pete Boyer finished third in the 300 meter hurdles, Alex Stevens finished third in the 110 meter hurdles, Cody Levensalor finished fourth in the shot put, and Colby Bombero placed sixth in the 200 meter dash. In relay action, Boyer, Bombero, Stevens, and Wang won the 4x100 meter relay, Boyer, Stevens, Zach Smith, and Garrett Hilton finished second in the 4x400 meter relay, and Zach Smith, Mark Smith, Garrett Hilton, and James Birtwistle placed fourth in the 4x800 meter relay.
