WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College women's lacrosse team dropped a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest at home, 10-2, to the University of Maine at Farmington on Wednesday afternoon at Bernatchez Field.
The Beavers improve to 3-5 (2-2 NAC) on the year while the Terriers search for their first win at 0-6 (0-4 NAC).
After a scoreless opening ten minutes, the Beavers broke the tie at the 20-minute mark on a goal from Keilly Lynch. The Terriers tied the game up under five minutes later on tally by Kimberly Banks (Swan's Island, Maine). UMF picked up the offensive pace throughout the rest of the half on four unanswered goals. Banks added her second goal before the break to make it 5-2 at the half.
The Beavers added another five straight goals while shutting the Terriers out in the second half to finish the scoring at 10-2 with shots 17-3 in favor of UMF.
Sierra Gilley completed the hat trick for the Beavers in the win while Carly Raymond and Lynch each scored a pair. Isabella Monbouquette and Jenessa Talarico each ended with a goal and two assists. Defensively, Samantha Cross, Nicole Mercier, and Lynch combined for 17 caused turnovers.
Banks scored both goals for the Terriers in the effort while causing four turnovers and scooping up four ground balls. Carina Iacozzi (Atkinson, N.H.), Darrian Leonardi (Thomaston, Maine), and Meredith Wheeler (Westbrook, Maine) each forced a pair of turnovers.
Heather Boland made four saves in goal for UMF while Sydni Collier (Oakland, Maine) made 12 saves for the Terriers.
Thomas will host another conference game on Saturday, taking on New England College.
