May Programs for Job Seekers at the York County CareerCenter

SPRINGVALE - The York County CareerCenter, located at 9 Bodwell Court in Springvale, continues its workshop programs for job seekers and those considering training to upgrade their skills and increase their employability.

"Maine had the fourth lowest unemployment rate in the U.S. in March, and over 4,500 more Mainers are working this year versus the same time last year," said Governor Paul R. LePage. "Employers need qualified people to fill many open jobs, so I urge you to connect with your closest Maine CareerCenter. Our team will help you search for a new or better job, improve your resume writing and interview skills, and get the most out of the job fairs happening right now."

CareerCenters can assist businesses by offering workshops on location, at local businesses or other organizations at no cost. The following workshops and programs will be held at the CareerCenter in Springvale unless otherwise noted. 

**Essentials of College Planning Workshop - Mondays, May 7, 14, 21 and 28, 10 a.m. to 12 noon**

A FREE interactive workshop that outlines the four steps in the college process: admissions, financial aid, career planning, and study skills. The workshop lasts approximately two to three hours. **GATEways to Employment - Wednesday, May 9, 9 a.m. to 12:00 noon**

Join this workshop for a basic overview of CareerCenter Services as well as resume, interview and job search skills. Gateway to Employment gives an overview of basic information on Resumes, Interviews and Job Search skills as well as CareerCenter and community resources available to you during your job search. Seats are limited, please call 324-5460 to register.

**Resume and Interview Coaching - Tuesday, May 15, 9 a.m. to 12:00 noon**

Your resume is your marketing tool that helps you land the all-important interview. Join us and learn the dos and don'ts of resume writing and how to stand out in a positive way. Then we'll show you how to emphasize your skills and motivate the interviewer to hire you. Call 324-5460 today to reserve a seat.

**York County Monthly Job Fair - Monday, May 21, 1 to 4 p.m.**

Explore your next employment opportunity. Representatives from several companies will be here interviewing for current openings. Please check our web site for the list of employers which will be updated as employers confirm attendance. No appointment required. **Veterans Helping Veterans -"Federal Employment through USA Jobs" (Workshop) Thursday, May 31, 1 to 3 p.m.**

Current openings in Sanford, Biddeford, Saco and Portland areas. No appointment is required. Please bring two valid forms of ID. Please check our website for updates and additions. Schedule is subject to change.

**Workforce Solutions** administers federally funded employment and training programs through the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA). Certain eligibility requirements apply.
