Husson Men's Lacrosse Falls to Castleton on Senior Day, 8-6

BANGOR, Maine -  Husson University Men's Lacrosse (3-5, 3-2 NAC) loses to Castleton University Spartans (5-5, 3-0 NAC) 8-6 on Senior Day at Boucher Field on Saturday afternoon.
Husson recognized two seniors before the game for their accomplishments with the Husson University Men's Lacrosse program: Brooks Gay (Underhill, Vt.) and Brandon Bosse (Limerick, Maine).
1st Quarter: Both teams scored a goal in the first quarter. Castleton opened up the scoring as Tyler Crowningshield (Vergennes, Vt.) scored assisted by Shane Centerbar (Burlington, Vt.) to make it 1-0 with 4:15 left in the first quarter. Just over a minute late, Matt Verrill (Auburn, Maine) scores on the man up to tie the game at 1.
2nd Quarter: The Eagles and the Spartans each scored three times in the second quarter. Verrill with
his 2nd goal of the game made it 2-1 Eagles with 14:21 left in the quarter. Castleton responded by scoring two goals in a span 12 seconds as Kyle Lutinski (New Fairfield, Conn.) and Ryan Crowningshield (Vergennes, Vt.) scored to make it 3-2 with 9:44 left. The Eagles tied the game again on the man up thanks to Blane Miller (Bowdoinham, Maine) assisted by Jacob Boothby (Kennebunk, Maine). Eagles regained the lead as Brandon Bosse scored before Alec Madden (Lincroft, N.J.)  tied the game heading into halftime.
3rd Quarter: Spartans outscored the Eagles 3-1 in the quarter. Gunner McAllister (Albion, Maine) opened up the scoring in the 3rd Quarter to give the Eagles their 3rd lead of the game at 5-4. Castleton took the lead with two goals in just under a minute and a half as Lutinski and Jason Sedell (Pine Brook, N.J.) scored to make it 6-5. In the final minute of the quarter, Castleton added a goal thanks to Sam Siegal (Brattleboro, Vt) to make it 7-5.
4th Quarter: Both teams scored once in the fourth quarter. Castleton opened up the scoring in the quarter as Jason Sedell (Pine Brook, N.J.) made it 8-5. Gay scored his senior day goal to

  • Goalie Matt Martin (Litchfield, Maine) with 18 saves on 26 shots.
  • Verrill with two goals.
  • Seniors Gay and Bosse each with a goal.
Leaders- CASTLETON  
  • Goalie Brandon Myron (Rensselaer, N.Y.) with 13 saves on 19 shots.
  • Lutinski and Jason Sedell each with two goals.
  • Tyler Crowningshield with a goal and an assist.
Team Stats
Spartans outshot the Eagles 36-33 with 26 shots on target to Husson's 19. Castleton was 1 of 4 on the man up while the Eagles was 2 of 6. Eagles recorded 43 ground balls to Castleton's 32.
