Rockland Park/Main Intersection Improvement Project Begins Monday, April 16th
Rockland, Maine - Rockland Main Street posted via Facebook, An exiting project is planned to improve traffic and pedestrian safety at the intersection of Park & Main. Beginning on Monday the 16th of April the 4 corners will be undergoing sidewalk and crosswalk improvements, in addition to a new traffic light system. This project will be under the supervision of Maine DOT and the City Public Services Department and the work will be done by Farley, Inc., and Maine Water Company. The design was done by Gartley & Dorsky. The project is expected to be completed by the 8th of June. No interruption to water or utilities are expected during the construction project. While no detours are expected, there will be single-lane closures at various times, sidewalk redirects, barriers, and flaggers present. Operations are expected to take place during the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM. There may be times when these hours may be expanded due to unanticipated circumstances. This is a long overdue project that will result in a safer downtown for all of us. If the opportunity presents itself, please take the time to welcome the construction workers and let them know how much we all appreciate their work.
