Nor'easters hang school-record 26 goals on Emerson

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Fifteen different players found the back of the cage as the University of New England racked up a 26-5 men's lacrosse victory over Emerson College on Wednesday evening (Apr. 11) at the Big Blue Turf.

With the performance, the Nor'easters (6-6) eclipsed their previous program-high for offensive production -- a 24-goal effort against Regis College in 2010.

Both Alex Zadworny and Garett Bozek turned in seven points on the night, combining for nine goals (5 and 4, respectively). Alex York had three goals, and Tom Luttrell, Mitch Mullin, and Collin Morrow all scored twice for UNE, which aimed 30 shots on-target.

Adam Race collected a team-best five ground balls and had a game-high four caused turnovers to go with his goal and two assists for the home side, and starting goalkeeper Sam MacKenzie denied three shots in just under 36 minutes of work to earn the winning decision.

For the Lions (5-6), Tim Doyle tallied two goals and Stevie Powers had a pair of assists. Austin DiPietro went 22-of-33 in face-offs and picked up 11 ground balls, and Bailey Kennedy made four saves.

Mullin notched his couple of goals during the initial 3:02 to help the Nor'easters establish a 5-0 cushion in the 1st period, which then ended with an 8-2 spread. It was 15-4 at the midway break, and 21-5 after three quarters.
