Husson Men's Lacrosse Knocked Off by New England College, 13-1

HENNIKER, N.H.—The Husson University men's lacrosse team was defeated by the Pilgrims of New England College, 13-1, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action at Don Melander Field.

With the loss, Husson falls to 2-4 overall and 2-1 in NAC play, while NEC improves to 6-4 overall and 3-0 in league action.

NEC LEADERS
Junior Zach Cotoni led the Pilgrims with four goals and an assist. Senior Matt Richard(Weare, N.H.) scored once with six helpers, while freshman Charles Hacking chipped in with three goals and an assist.

Junior Connor Fries caused eight turnovers and scooped up nine ground balls on the day.

HUSSON LEADERS
Husson's lone goal was scored by Zach Glazier and assisted by Brandon Bosse.

Owen Richmond won six face-offs for the Eagles, while Chad Merrill had five ground balls.

GOALKEEPERS 
NEC's William Platt had six saves in three quarters of scoreless play. Anthony Martino gave up one goal and had two saves in the fourth quarter.

For Husson, Matt Martin recorded 19 saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pilgrims were slow to net their first goal, scoring nearly six minutes into the quarter on a goal by Hacking. Three minutes later, the Pilgrims went up 2-0 as Richard found Jacob Blanchette for his ninth goal of the season. Richard then scored himself to round out the first quarter.

All three NEC goals of the second quarter came in the final 5:08 of the frame, beginning with a Cotoni goal. Reilly Parker scored a man-down goal, and Cotoni added his second of the game to send the Pilgrims into halftime up 6-0.

NEC scored four goals in the third to take a 10-0 lead. Husson got the board five minutes into the fourth quarter with Glazier's goal, but NEC responded with three more goals to seal the win.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Eagles will host Maine Maritime on April 4 at Boucher Field. The game is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
