KIRKMOUNT is the name of a forgotten village in the hills of Nova Scotia. Though the white-washed
church on the hill and the little graveyard are still there, much of MacLellan's Mountain has once
again returned to woods and barrens. But the Bigneys still play the kind of music their Grampa,
Great-Grampa and Great-Great Grampa played there. That Scotch snap, the irregular spikey
rhythms and lingering notes of the driven bow once again paint memories and make feet tap.

The Bigney brothers have been featured musicians at the Normaway Inn, Cape Breton; Club Passim, Harvard Square; A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor, Music and the Spoken Word with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and as resident musicians at Robert Redford’s Sundance Resort.

Their original tunes have been featured themes in many productions, including Ken Burn’s National
Parks, America’s Best Idea, and Florentine.
