Rockland, Maine - The Friends of Maine’s Seabird Islands (FOMSI) was recently awarded two grants by Maine-based foundations. The Bangor Savings Bank Foundation granted FOMSI funds to assist with exhibits in the new collaborative headquarters of the Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge and FOMSI. The funds will specifically go to the design and fabrication of a computer kiosk, which will be constructed by Bench Dogs of Rockland.
Additionally, the Quimby Family Foundation has awarded FOMSI a grant to continue the Programs Coordinator position, held by Stephanie Martin. These funds will specifically help with outreach affiliated with the gallery space within the new Visitor Center. The gallery will be displaying rotating art and photography exhibits relating to the nature and scenery of Maine's coast.
Artists interested in consigning or displaying in this new space should contact Stephanie directly at Stephanie@maineseabirds.org or stop by the new Visitor Center to view the gallery at 9 Water Street in Rockland.
The Friends of Maine’s Seabird Islands is a non-profit organization, formed in 2003, to support the Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge in conserving, protecting, and enhancing the rich diversity of coastal habitats, seabirds, and other wildlife.
