CAMDEN, ME -- United Mid-Coast Charities, the Camden-based organization supporting non-profit agencies in Knox and Waldo counties, has named four new members to its board of directors.

Eric G. Belley of Rockport is Business Banking Officer at Bangor Savings Bank, based at the Rockport branch.

Said Belley: "UMCC serves a critical role in assisting the many non-profits in our communities. During these times of shrinking funding for many social services, UMCC provides much-needed funding to keep these programs running. As someone who is committed to a healthy and vibrant community, I wanted to give something back to the community by joining the UMCC board and being a part of the solution."

Nancy M. Boyington of Monroe is Assistant Director at the University of Maine’s Hutchinson Center in Belfast.

Said Boyington: "UMCC is dedicated to making a difference in so many people's lives and I wanted to be part of lifting others up. UMCC's reach goes beyond its programs and people. It goes to lifting spirits and instilling hope in those it serves."

Marty Martens of Camden is owner of Antique Treasures in Route 90 in Rockport. She notes that UMCC process requires meeting with each agency applying for funds: "This way we can get to know the people doing this important work in our community and to see the depth of the need they face."

Joan Phaup of Camden works from her home office as a public relations manager for Questionmark, a software company based in Connecticut.

Said Phaup: "UMCC donates every penny it raises to charities throughout the Midcoast. Just as important, UMCC creates a spirit of caring among the many, many people who support its efforts."

In 2012, United Mid-Coast Charities is celebrating its 70th anniversary of serving people and organizations in Knox and Waldo counties. For more information about UMCC, visit unitedmidcoastcharities.org or call 236-2299.
