Heartwood to Presents British Farce, "See How They Run"

NEWCASTLE, ME - Heartwood Regional Theater Company delivers a late season comic punch with the British Farce, “See How They Run” by Philip King.  Brimming with hilarity, wit, mistaken identities, break-neck plot, and loads of physical comedy, “See How They Run”  is set in a British vicarage at the end of World War II. Filled with comic relief – and who couldn’t use a bit of that?! - for the entire family, the show opens May 4 in the Parker Poe Theater at Lincoln Academy.

A classic British farce running approximately 90 minutes in three short acts, “See How They Run” features a talented regional cast and crew.  Nine actors from nine towns spanning Topsham to Rockland include: Wayne Barber, Peter Christine, Kent Cooper, Hayden Crowell, Nancy-Grace Dersham, Alison Machaiek, Millie Santiago, Steven Shema, and Bill Vaughan.  Tight ensemble work, an established trademark of Heartwood, keeps the cast and audience on its toes, with the demands of this frenzied hilarity. Audiences will enjoy live theater at its best in the 150 seat intimacy of Poe Theater.

A full interior set, bright and lighthearted, is taking shape in the hands of finish carpenter Jim Gagnon, local artist and painter Mary Boothby, and Heartwood’s tech director Letitia Munson.  Costuming this period proves a fun challenge for veteran seamstress Sue Ghoreyeb.  In addition, Director Griff Braley is pleased to work with Jim Lydon, a Lincoln Academy senior accepted to Tisch School of the Arts in NY to study lighting design in the fall.  Lydon's light design and operation for the comedy will be the culminating project of an independent study program at Lincoln Academy.

“See How They Run” is supported by season sponsor Bath Savings Institution and show sponsors Cheney Insurance Agency & Newcastle Square Realty. Performances will run for two weekends in the Parker Poe Theater at Lincoln Academy.  Evening performances, beginning at 7:30 p.m., will be presented May 4, 5, 11, and 12.  Two 3:00 matinees will be offered on May 6 and 13.  Seating is general, though special arrangements may be made at the time of reservation.  Tickets are $12/students and $18/adults.  Reservations are strongly suggested and may be obtained by phoning Heartwood at 207.563.1373 or emailing boxoffice@heartwoodtheater.org.   For info and video clips, visit www.heartwoodtheater.org.  Produced by special permission with Samuel French, Inc.
