BELFAST, ME - Belfast, Maine–April 12, 2012–The GO Home, built by passive house architecture and construction firm G•O Logic LLC, received the TreeHugger Best of Green: Design award for 2012, presented to the company on April 6th. According to TreeHugger, the Best of Green awards excellence in sustainability in 100-plus categories and features the top picks of the year among the “movers and shakers, the people, places, and organizations” that help “green push further into the mainstream.”
The GO Home is Maine’s first Passive-House-Certified home and is rated LEED platinum (the US Green Building Council’s highest designation). The home is a 1500-square-foot elegant and functional model of the German Passive House Standard. The Passive House standard requires 86% improvement on a home’s space heating loads compared to the typically constructed home, which translates into significant financial and environmental savings. Annual heating costs for The GO Home amount to approximately $300.
