Eight Teacher of the Year nominees in State House ceremony April 10
WHAT:
Education Commissioner, First Lady and others will honor the nominees for 2013 Teacher of the Year
WHERE:
Hall of Flags, State House, Augusta
WHEN:
Tuesday, April 10, 11 a.m.
WHO:
8 nominees (listed below), Education Commissioner Stephen Bowen, First Lady Ann LePage, and 2012 Teacher of the Year, Alana Margeson
The nominees will undergo an intensive selection process; consisting of a school visit, a professional portfolio review, an oral presentation, and final interviews before the 2013 Maine Teacher of the Year is selected. The review panels include past Teachers of the Year, principals, Department of Education staff, members of professional organizations and the business community. The 2013 Maine Teacher of the Year will be announced at a surprise all-school assembly in early September.
The Teacher of the Year program is generously supported by Hannaford Supermarkets and Bangor Savings Bank.
NOTE:
Nominees will have displays available for viewing from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. and will be available for interviews.
