Hampden Broncos Wins Rockland Community Center Girl's Invitational Tournament

Rockland, Maine - Eight teams made up of fifth and sixth grade girls took part in the Rockland Community Center Girl's Invitational Tournament held from Friday, March 11th to Sunday, March 13, 2016 in Rockland, Maine.

The eight teams that took part in the annual basketball event were St. George Dragon, F/V Squall, Medomak Valley Panthers, Thomaston, Hampden Broncos, Fivetown Basketball, Oak Hill, China REC. Tornadoes.

Over the weekend it was great to see fifth and sixth grade girls playing their hardest to win the annual basketball event. The overall winner of the annual basketball event was Hampden Broncos with China REC. Tornadoes finishing as the runner up. The other teams should be really proud of their hard work. These girls have a really bright future in the sport of basketball.

Saturday's highlights of Games played.

Full game of the championship game between China REC. Tornadoes and Hampden Broncos.

There were two games played on Friday, March 11th, Five Town Basketball VS F/V Squall and Hampden Broncos VS China REC. Tornadoes.

Five Town Basketball saw a win against F/V Squall with a score of 46-11. Scorers for Five Town were Gabby Genthner 8pts, Mae Dostie 2pts, Mattie Luce 18pts, Anna Jordan 2pts, Hannah Christie 6pts, Tess Jalbuena-Cook 6pts, Kara Andrews 2pts and Ella Graffam 2pts.

F/V scorers were Searra Tolman 2pts, Alivia Kurr 3pts, Emily Knutson 4pts and Alexia Knowlton 2pts.

The second game saw Hampden winning the game over China REC. Tornadoes 35-18. Scorers for Hampden were Emma Haskell 10pts, Camryn Neal 4pts, Taya Archer 8pts, Bella McLaughlin 5pts, Abby Astbury 2pts, Taylor Gradner 2pts and 2pts for Brooklyn Fortin.

Scorers for China REC. Tornadoes were Sarah Praul 1pt, Reiley Fleck 8pts, Kayla Peaslee 1pt, Emily Clark 6pts and 2pts for Alyssa Redman.

On Saturday there were 5 games we covered, Medomak Valley Panther VS Thomaston, Oak Hill VS St George Dragons, Hampden Broncos VS Five Town Basketball, China REC. Tornadoes VS F/V Squall and St. George Dragons VS Medomak Panthers. Also, there was a skills competitions.

Medomak Valley Panthers played Thomaston in the first game of the day.

Thomaston scorers were Jasmyn Beaudry 2pts, Madison Benner 6pts, Alydia Hatch 3pts, Anna Campbell 2pts and Abby Waterman 14pts.

Medomak Valley Panthers scorers were Grace White 6pts, Addison McCormick 2pts, Autumn Ripley 6pts, Baylee Stewart 4pts, Ziniah Puchalski 6pts and Allyssa Creamer 2pts.

Second game of the day was St. George Dragons playing Oak Hill.

Scorers for St. George Dragons were Noelle Delano 2pts, Anna Kingsbury 4pts, Audrey Leavitt 1pt and Ahlivia Morris 6pts.

Oak Hill scorers were Amara Denis 2pts, Paige Gonya 7pts, Brianna Dumais 7pts, Gabrielle Chessie 12pts and Emily Dillman 4pts.

In the third game of the day was China REC. Tornadoes winning against F/V Squall 66-2. Despite the score F/V Squall still played a great game.

Fourth game saw Hampden Broncos playing Five Town Basketball.

Hampden Broncos players that scored in the game were Emma Haskell 2pts, Camryn Neal 11pts, Taya Archer 13pts, Bella McLaughlin 7pts, Abbie Astbury 3pts and Katie Armstrong with 2pts.

Five Town Basketball scorers in this game were Ella Graffam 2pts, McKenna Craney 1pt, Lili Clement 4pts, Mattie Luce 2pts and Gabby Genthner 4pts.

In the fifth and final game saw Medomak Valley Panthers playing St. George Dragons.

Medomak Valley Panthers scorers were Grace White 8pts, Autumn Ripley 4pts, Baylee Stewart 5pts, Ziniah Puchalski 4pts, Trishelle Ames 1pt, Emily Prock 1pt and Allyssa Creamer 6pts.

St. George Dragons players that scored in this game were Anna Kingsbury 2pts, Audrey Leavitt 6pts, Ahlivia Morris 5pts and Laura Olds 2pts.

In Sunday action there were four games, Oak Hill VS Hampden Broncos, Medomak Valley Panthers VS China REC. Tornadoes, Oak Hill VS China REC. Tornadoes and championship game Hampden Broncos VS China REC. Tornadoes.

The first game these Oak Hill players were able to score are Paige Gonya 1pt, Brianna Dumais 2pts and Gabrielle Chessie 6pts.

Scorers for Hampden Broncos were Emma Haskell 6pts, Camryn Neal 11pts, Taya Archer 5pts, Bella McLaughlin 5pts, Abbie Astbury 3pts, Brooklyn Fortin 1pt and Mikayla Miller 1pt.

In the second game saw Medomak Valley Panthers playing China REC. Tornadoes.

Medomak Valley Panthers scorers were Grace White 6pts, Addison McCormick 2pts, Autumn Ripley 4pts, Ziniah Puchalski 2pts and Julia Kunesh 2pts.

Scorers for China REC. Tornadoes were Samantha Golden 2pts, Sarah Praul 4pts, Hayden Hoague 2pts, Reilley Fleck 4pts, Emma Jefferson 2pts, Emily Clark 12pts, Mackenzie Roderick 2pts and Alyssa Redman 2pts.

Third game saw China REC. Tornadoes playing Oak Hill.

These China REC. Tornadoes players were able to score Alyssa Redman 13pts, Mackenzie Roderick 5pts, Emily Clark 4pts, Emma Jefferson 2pts, Kayla Peaslee 3pts, Reilley Fleck 8pts and Hayden Hoague 5pts.

Oak Hill scorers were Gabrielle Chessie 7pts, Brianna Dumais 8pts and Amara Denis 4pts.

China REC. Tornadoes played Hampden Broncos in the championship game to finish the tournament.

Hampden scorers were Emma Haskell 4pts, Camryn Neal 5pts, Taya Archer 6pts, Bella McLaughlin 11pts and Abby Astbury 4pts.
