Yoga Therapist Erika Manning will give a talk on “Yoga Therapy for a Lifetime of Health, Wellness, and Balance” at the Camden Public Library on Monday, June 11 at noon. The talk is part of the “Wellness” series of brown bag lunch presentations co-hosted by the library and the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce.
The presentation will be an informational talk about the use of Yoga as a therapeutic system. There is a
growing body of scientific evidence showing that Yoga can be beneficial for an extremely wide variety of medical conditions. The therapeutic use of Yoga can help people feel better on a daily basis, prepare for surgery, help in post operative recovery, and to live more fully and vibrantly with a chronic disease. The talk by Erika Manning, BFA, LMT, RYT, CYT, will explore a brief history of Yoga, the benefits of a therapeutic practice, and why a Yoga Therapy session is different from a public yoga class. Erika will also discuss how Yoga Therapy can be used in conjunction with conventional medicine and other complementary therapies.
She will present a case study so participants can hear how a Yoga Therapy session is put together, and if time, facilitate some gentle experiential exercises for participants at the end of the talk. Erika Manning is a licensed massage therapist, polarity practitioner, a registered yoga teacher and a certified Yoga Therapist. She teaches Yoga in the midcoast area, and sees Yoga Therapy clients in North Appleton at Blue Crow Studio. Erika has studied the therapeutic use of Yoga for over a decade, and has used it extremely successfully as a therapeutic support system in her own life. The informational talk is free and open to the public. For more information please call the Camden Public Library at 236-2440, Erika Manning at 785-3077, or go to Blue Crow Studio’s Facebook page.
