Camden, Me-Join us at the Owl and Turtle for a book signing for The Fairy House Handbook. The signing will be held on Saturday, June 23 from 1:00 until 3:00. Author Liza Gardner Walsh will be signing books.
What child is not enchanted by the thought of fairies? Born on the magical island of Monhegan, Maine, the long tradition of building fairy houses for our whimsical friends is spreading across thecountry and capturing the imaginations of children of all ages.
Equal parts how-to and whimsy, in the Fairy House Handbook (DownEast, June 2012, $14.95) children will learn everything there isto know about creating the perfect habitat for fairies and their friends. Topics covered include selecting a site, what tools and materials to use, and many ideas on details and accessories you can add to your fairy house. Since fairies prefer woodland homes, and true fairy houses must be made from natural materials, creating the habitat requires a slow, thoughtful walk outdoors to collect building materials, find a site, and let the imagination take flight. The Fairy House Handbook is filled with 100 brilliant color photos and written for children—or anyone with a child’s heart. Author Liza Gardner Walsh is a children’s librarian and educator and holds an MFA in writing from Vermont College. She weaves fairy folklore, do's and don'ts, and wisdom into a book that is sure to enchant children and adults alike.
