CAMDEN, ME - David Dodson’s brand new band “David and the Lowdown” will be playing their first concert at the Camden Public Library on Thursday, April 5, at 7:00 pm, at the Library Coffeehouse. Mike Nickerson (stand-up bass), Mac Ferris (guitar, banjo, mandolin, and vocals), and J.R. Braugh (guitar and vocals) will join Dodson onstage. “They’re wonderful musicians and great guys,” says Dodson. “Hope to see you there, and tell some friends!” Admission is only $8.
David Dodson writes great songs that run the gamut of America styles – folk, rock, blues, jazz, and country – and cover a wide variety of topics and range from poignant to hilarious. He plays a mean guitar, tells a good story, sings like a bird, and he’s got rhythm. Who could ask for anything more?
Dodson has shared the stage with KD Lang, Bill Staines, Ramblin Jack Elliot, Gordon Bok, The Persuasions, Greg Brown, Joe Ely, Marcia Ball, and Sha Na Na. The Boston Globe says, “An eyes-twinkling, word-twisting, pretention-shattering wit that delighted and surprised the crowd all night . . . Dodson is a cinematic songwriter full of surprises, with a fine sandy voice and a soft melodic sense. He plays with the accepted norms of the singer-songwriter, turning clichés topsy-turvy.”
