TICKETS TO 7TH SEASON OF LIVE FROM THE MET IN HD ON SALE NOW AT LINCOLN THEATER

Damariscotta, Maine - The 7th season of live broadcasts from the stage of the Metropolitan Opera will open on October 13th with the new production of Donizetti’s endearing L’Elisir d’Amore starring Anna Netrebko.  This season there will be 12 transmissions, and tickets are now on sale at the Lincoln Theater.

These broadcasts have made it possible for opera lovers or people just curious about opera to sit in the comfortable seats of the Lincoln Theater on Main Street in Damariscotta and see productions from the world-famous Metropolitan Opera in New York City as they occur.  And people attending these Live from the Met in HD get special behind-the-scenes interviews with singers as they come off the stage, and peeks at the enormous machinery that creates the magic of these fabulous productions. There will be four of Verdi’s most loved operas;  A Met Premiere of an opera by Thomas Adès;  Berlioz’s spectacular musical retelling of the Trojan War; and operas by Mozart, Wagner, Handel and the verismo composer Zandonai

In addition to L’Elisir d’Amore, the season will consist of:

Verdi’s Otello on October 27 starring Renée Fleming as Desdemona

Adès’s The Tempest (a Met Premiere) conducted by the composer on November 10

Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito with Elina Garanča on December 1

Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera, a new production with Marcelo Alvarez and Sondra Radvanovsky and Dmitri Hvorostovsky on December 8

Verdi’s Aida on December 15 with Liudmyla Monastyrska and Roberto Alagna

Berlioz’s Les Troyens with Deborah Voigt, Susan Graham, Marcello Giordani and Dwayne Croft on January 5

Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda with Joyce DiDonato in a Met Premiere

Verdi’s Rigoletto in a new production with Piotr Beczala, Željko Lucic and Diana Damrau on April 6

Wagner’s Parsifal with Jonas Kaufmann in a new production on March 2

Zandonai’s Francesca da Rimini with Eva-Maria Westbroek and Marcello Giordani on March 16

Handel’s Giulio Cesare with David Daniels on April 27

Dr. Morton Achter will also be returning this year to give four of his popular pre-opera talks prior the broadcasts of Otello, Un Ballo in Mashera, Maria Stuarda, and Rigoletto.

Prices this season are  24 adult or $22 senior; youth 18 and under are $5.  There is a $2 discount members of the Lincoln Theater, and a 10% discount a season subscription.
