Rockland, Maine - An Italian Dinner and Talk on "Living in Rome: Duties, Distractions and Delights" will be given by Sara Boi on Tuesday, June 25, from 5:30 to 8:00 pm at the Penobscot Language School, 28 Gay Street, in Rockland. The public is most welcome to this cultural and social evening in English. A table will be designated for those who wish to converse in Italian over dinner.
Sara Boi will talk after the dinner of the secret treasures of residing in Rome, believing there is much that tourists may generally miss. This spring Sara has been a visiting teacher of Italian at the Penobscot Language School. A lifetime resident of Rome, Sara is a teacher in the Pontifical University to nuns and priests from around the world to come serve in the Vatican, engaging them in both the Italian language and the Italian culture. She loves to travel. In Japan for one year, she taught Italian to Japanese adults. Her mastery of the English language was acquired at the University of Arkansas. She then went on to Dublin, Ireland, to work as an educational tour leader with Study Tours. She acknowledges her four-month stay here has given her an appreciation and enthusiasm for the people, the natural environment, the arts, the lively activity and entertainment of the Midcoast area.
The dinner menu, offering a choice of vegetarian and non-vegetarian, will consist of Italian specialties: an antipasto of focaccia with tomatoes, olives, and cheese or salami; a primo of crespelli pasta with ricotti cheese, spinach and tomato sauce, or of crespelli pasta with mushroom, sweet Italian sausage and bechamello sauce; the ensalada will be of zucchini and herbed bread crumbs; the dolce or dessert will be a crostada of Italian creme and fresh strawberries. Reservations for the evening dinner and talk is $35 per person and may be made by calling 207-230-0055 between 8 am and 9 pm.
