Rockland, Maine - See the St. George River watershed from a different point of view. Join Georges River Land Trust for a safe, quiet ride on September 15th at 10 am (rain or shine) to enjoy the colors and fresh fall air. Topping off the day will be a barbeque at a 1784 farmhouse in Warren. Tickets to the event benefit the Georges River Land Trust and are $50 per bike for Land Trust members and $55 per bike for non-members (passengers are free). Alvin Chase, Board President and owner of Eastern Tire Inc. in Rockland, will lead riders on a loop tourencompassing about 100 country miles.
“Motorcycle enthusiasts love these benefit rides,” said Chase. “Nothing could be better than exploring on our bikes and raising much needed money to conserve this beautiful area.”
The tour will cover territory between Port Clyde and the headwaters of the St. George River at Lake St. George in Liberty, and pass properties protected by the Land Trust such as the Paulsen Farm and Riverview Hayfields Preserve in South Thomaston. Riders will have amazing views of the lakes, river, blueberry fields, and farms throughout the watershed, as well as the beautiful coastline on the St. George Peninsula.
Georges River Land Trust is committed to encouraging citizens to discover the river and care for the land throughout the 14 communities in the St. George River watershed.
