The National Theatre of London’s “Frankenstein” Encores at the Grand

Ellsworth, Maine - The Grand announces the first in a summer series of Hi Def encores from The National Theatre of London--the landmark production of Mary Shelley’s classic gothic horror story “Frankenstein” directed by the Oscar-winning filmmaker (“Slumdog Millionaire”, “127 Hours”) Danny Boyle on Thursday June 14that 2pm with a reversed-role encore performance at 6pm as well as on Friday June 15th at 2pm with a reversed-role encore performance at 6pm.

In this visionary new production of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein (adapted by Nick Dear for the stage), Benedict Cumberbatch (“Sherlock”) and Jonny Lee Miller (“Trainspotting”, “Dark Shadows”) are alternating the roles of Victor Frankenstein and the Creature. Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein’s bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the friendless Creature, increasingly desperate and vengeful, determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal. The performances at the Grand will allow audiences an opportunity to see both lead actors playing both parts.

So bring a friend. Share the experience of Frankenstein on Thursday June 14that 2pm (Cumberbatch as Creature, Miller as Frankenstein) with a reversed-role encore performance at 6pm; Miller-as-Creature again on on Friday June 15th at 2pm and then the Cumberbatch-as-Creature role encore performance at 6pm on Friday.
