Join local artist Kristina Bilonick as she discusses the use of screen printing and t-shirt design in pop culture. Learn how to make a workable graphic design. Conservation of Our Collection: Abstract Drawings

Join Nicholas Bell, The Fleur and Charles Bresler Curator of American Craft and Decorative Art, for a brief illustrated talk on the new exhibition "40 under 40: Craft Futures." Join John Hanhardt, senior curator for media arts, and Kota Ezawa, assistant professor of media arts at the California College of the Arts, for discussion on the legacy of Nam June Paik, internationally recognized as the father of video art. Art-o-mat Swap Meet
Saturday, July 28, 1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
The museum's Art-o-mat is a retrofitted cigarette machine that sells original artworks for five dollars. Art-o-mat artists will be on hand for a meet and greet, and to demonstrate the creation of their artpaks. Participants can make their own artpaks to swap with friends. Local musicians will perform, and a cash bar will be available during the program.

Steinway Series: James D'Leon
Sunday, July 8, 3 p.m.
James D'León, known as a versatile and outstanding classical pianist and Steinway Artist, will present "Thirty-two Variations on an Original Theme" in C minor by Beethoven, "Ballade No. 2" in B minor by Liszt, selections from "Iberia" by Albeniz, and the "Ghost Variations" for piano by George Tsontakis in a birthday tribute to Nam June Paik. The Steinway Series, which features the museum's Steinway Concert Grand model D piano, is presented in the museum's state-of-the-art auditorium. Free tickets are available in the G Street Lobby thirty minutes before each program.

Thursday, July 19, 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Continue the museum's celebration of its exhibition, "African American Art: Harlem Renaissance, Civil Rights Era, and Beyond," with a Take 5! concert featuring the music of Thelonius Monk. Freddie Redd, piano, and Butch Warren, bass, both consider Monk as an influence, friend, and mentor. They display that influence with Redd's interpretation of "Round Midnight," and Warren's "I Remember Monk" and "A Little Chippie." The band features Brad Linde and Brian Settles, tenor saxophone, and Tony Martucci, drums. During concerts, borrow a board game to play or stop by the Courtyard Café for refreshments.
