HAPPY HOUR GOES GREEN
ROCKLAND- Michael Leonard, President of GreenMe, Inc., Nancy Wood, Co-owner of Amalfi On The Water, and Audrey Lovering, Rockland’s Community Development Director are partnering to provide an opportunity for eco-conscious individuals to network in the MidCoast area through Green Drinks.
With over 315 chapters worldwide, Green Drinks, a social networking group, provides people from all walks of life the ability to raise a glass and become more aware of options to make their lives, homes, businesses and community greener.
Michael Leonard, President of a newly formed green business and Chair of Green Downtowns!, a Rockland Main Street, Inc. program, found a need for Green Drinks in the MidCoast. “Energy efficiency and environmental sustainability are more than just buzz-words, Green Drinks will be a great opportunity for those who are interested in Green solutions to meet and share ideas."
According to the Green Drinks website (greendrinks.org), “These events are simple and unstructured, but many people have found employment, made friends, developed new ideas, and done deals. It’s a force for the good.”
Nancy Wood, Co-owner of Amalfi's stated "Amalfi on the Water is the perfect venue for Green Drinks. We are certified by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection as an “Environmental Leader Restaurant”, having proven that we are serious about taking care of our environment by meeting certain state criteria. We approach our daily business with recycling, repurposing and resourcefulness."
Midcoast Green Drinks will meet the third Thursday of the month, starting on June 21, from 5p.m to 7p.m. at Amalfi On The Water, 12 Water Street, Rockland, ME 04841.
