Bowdoin College Women’s Hockey Team Makes Donation to Help Women with Breast Cancer

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Members of the Bowdoin College Women’s Hockey team recently presented a check for $1,600.00 to the Women’s Health Fund at Mid Coast Hospital. The fund is used to offer support to breast cancer patients in financial need. Team members raised the funds on campus and at hockey games this season by accepting donations for Pink Ribbons they created, the symbol for support of women with breast cancer.

They also raised awareness of breast cancer at a “Pink the Rink” themed hockey game by donning pink laces on their skates and wrapping pink tape on their hockey sticks. “We were pleased that so many students and fans of our team joined with us to support this effort,” said Assistant Coach, Lisa Batchelor.

Mid Coast’s Breast and Surgical Oncology Clinic Director, Kim Lynch added, “It is wonderful that these young athletes have once again demonstrated their support of women with breast cancer in our community. We are truly grateful to them all.”
