Dine Out For No Kid Hungry

RESTAURANTS HELP SHARE OUR STRENGTH MAINE
FIGHT CHILDHOOD HUNGER THROUGHOUT THE STATE
Dine Out in Maine this month and help 69,000 Maine kids

Augusta, ME – Twenty-nine Maine restaurants, including Portland’s celebrated Grace, 555 and Petite Jacqueline – a 2012 James Beard Award nominee – will participate in Share Our Strength’s Dine Out For No Kid Hungry® this month. The initiative continues through September at participating restaurants – with a focus week Sept. 16-22 – raising funds nationwide for this worthy cause.

Across the country, 1 in 5 children is uncertain where her next meal will come from. In Maine, the numbers are even more devastating – 1 in 4. Funds raised through the generosity of Maine’s chefs and restaurants, businesses and individuals, via high-profile events such as the annual Taste of the Nation in June, Dine Out For No Kid Hungry and the Great American Bake Sale, make a profound impact. Since its first Taste of The Nation event in 2006, Share Our Strength Maine has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for some of the state’s most successful anti-hunger organizations.

Share our Strength Maine is proud to be partnering with the Maine Restaurant Association for Dine Out For No Kid Hungry and delighted that so many of the organization’s member restaurants are supporting this effort. “We’re thrilled to support Share Our Strength in its effort to grow the Dine Out program here in Maine and we’re heartened to see Maine restaurants rally around the ‘No Kid Hungry’ cause - though it’s not surprise to us,” said Dick Grotton, executive director of the MRA. “Restaurateurs feed people. It’s what they do and they’re always the first to step to the plate for their neighbors in need.”
