Foxcroft, Maine - Mr. Arnold Shorey, Head of School at Foxcroft Academy, has announced Yuemeng Jia as the Valedictorian and Christopher Shorey as the Salutatorian of the Class of 2012. Foxcroft Academy’s graduation ceremony will be held on Sunday, June 10 at 1:30 pm. Baccalaureate will be held prior to graduation at noon. Mr. Eliot Cutler, Chair of OneMaine, will give the Commencement Address. Yuemeng (Joyce) Jia, is the daughter of Wei Jia and Jiming Wang of Beijing, China. She currently has a GPA of 3.99. Joyce has been a member of Key Club and Orchestra for all three years since she came to study at FA, and she is a 2012 Rose Award recipient. She is also a member of the Math Team and captained the team this year. Joyce will be attending the University of Virginia next year, where she intends to major in Mathematics and Chemistry.
Chris Shorey is the son of Arnold and Stacy Shorey of Dover-Foxcroft. He currently has a GPA of 3.97. Chris played football for all four years of high school, obtaining his first varsity letter his sophomore year, and was a captain his senior year. He is the president of the Student Council, vice president of the senior class, and the vice president of the Key Club. Chris is a member of the National Honor Society and a 2012 Rose Award recipient. He also participated in baseball and obtained a varsity letter his freshman and junior year. Chris will be attending Colby College next year, where he will be studying Government and Economics, as he one day hopes to practice corporate law.
