Effective Board Relationships Workshop for Nonprofits Offered
UMaine offers Workshop for Nonprofit Organizations: Establishing Effective Leader Board and Governance Relationships
Belfast, Maine - The more efficiently the non-profit organization is structured --- the more effectively it will function. This workshop will examine leader, board, committee and related roles and how these and other governance relationships can be strengthened to serve stakeholders and advance the mission of the organization. Strategies for efficient meeting management will also be addressed.
On Monday June 11, join us to the next session in this year’s Nonprofit Management Certificate program: Establishing Effective Leader Board and Governance Relationships in the Nonprofit Organization. The workshop will begin at 8:30 a.m.and run until 4:00 p.m. and is being taught by Dr. Frank Burtnett.
The University of Maine Hutchinson Center, Route 3, Belfast, has designed the certificate program in non-profit organizational management for non-profit organization executives, staff members, and leaders to deal with contemporary issues and problems using realistic, “hands on” strategies. The various workshops will encourage interactive discussion of “real world” situations and actively engage participants in quality planning, effective program/service development, creative problem solving, and issue resolution. This certificate represents yet another of the offerings that the University of Maine Hutchinson Center has created to be responsive to the educational needs of the community.
Dr. Frank Burtnett, is a veteran educator and non-profit organization executive. Frank has thirty years of direct service in various non-profit organizations, educational institutions and community agencies, including seven years as Executive Director of the National Association for College Admission Counseling. Frank is the president of an independent consulting firm specializing in programs that foster human resourceand organization development. Frank was instrumental in bringing and developing the Nonprofit Certificate program for the UMaine Hutchinson Center.
The non-profit workshops will appeal to those involved in a variety of organizational roles, including executive directors, board/trustee members, business managers, development officers, program officers, and those holding similar positions. Those not currently engaged innon-profit organizational roles—but seeking to move into these career areas—will also gain a great deal from participation in these workshops.
Upon completion of six of the workshops that comprise the program, individuals will earn a certificate in Non-Profit Organization Management from the University of Maine Hutchinson Center.
