First Lady Recognizes Local Eagle Scouts

First Lady Recognizes Local Eagle Scouts

Augusta, Maine - First Lady Ann LePage will join proud parents, family members, friends and Boy Scouts of all ages on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at an Eagle Scout ceremony. The event will take place at the Augusta American Legion Post #250 at 2:00 pm.

The following scouts from Troop 603 will be recognized and awarded their Eagle Scout badge: Jacob Antworth, Joshua Antworth, Noah Aube, Devin Williams, Benjamin Campbell, and Andrew Mahaleris.

“These young men have demonstrated great discipline and determination in earning their Eagle Scout badges,” said First Lady Ann LePage. “This is no small feat, especially since only 2 percent of all Boy Scouts reach the rank of Eagle Scout. These young men should be recognized and proud of this great accomplishment,” continued the First Lady.

Each individual has completed a challenging project that benefited and enhanced his local community. The boys must show leadership, create a plan, solicit volunteers and donations, and complete their project. Some of the projects included improving outdoor recreational trails, and building a handicapped-accessible bridge to the green house at Farrington Elementary School. Each year Boy Scouts volunteer hundreds of hours to their communities.
