Tuesday, May 22

“Tick Talk” at the Camden Public Library, 6:30 pm, with Lyme disease specialist Dr. Bea Szantyr, presented by the Camden Lyme Disease Support Group. Dr. Szantyr’s “Tick Talk” is an informative look at ticks, the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi which causes Lyme disease, the incidence of Lyme disease in Maine, the difficulties of medical diagnosis, and steps you can take to protect yourself and your family.

Songwriters Session, 6:00 pm in the Picker Room at the Camden Public Library, final meeting before the June Coffeehouse performance. All are welcome. Led by troubadour Jim James. Call the library at 236-3440 for more information.

“A Balanced Portfolio – How to Select Stocks to Suit Your Needs” Brown Bag Lunch at noon at the Camden Public Library, featuring three members of Better Investing: Pat Jones, Lowrie Sargent, and Rosemary Weymouth. Made possible by a grant from FINRA, including free Quicken software for all participants.


Thursday, May 31

“Lurking in the Trees,” 6:30 pm at the Camden Public Library. How to spot the three biggest threats to Maine’s landscapes and forests, and what to do to assist Maine agencies in protecting our forests from the Asian longhorned beetle, the emerald ash borer, and the hemlock woolly adelgid. Presented by Karen Coluzzi, Entomologist with the Maine Department of Agriculture.

Performance of Henrik Ibsen’s “Hedda Gabler” in the Reading Room at the Camden Public Library, 7:00 pm, by  The Mid Coast Actors’ Studio, a newly-formed community theater troupe. The library is co-sponsor of the Camden performances. Tickets are a suggested donation of $10, available at the door only. For more information, visit midcoastactors.com.

Indoor Book Sale at the Camden Public Library, to benefit the Stock the Stacks campaign. 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. As usual the selection of fiction books will be mountainous, but the gems of the sale will be the art books.

Annual Songwriters’ Coffeehouse at the Camden Public Library. Come enjoy performances by local songwriters and musicians. Suggested donation $4.
