SEA DOGS TO HOST OPEN AUDITIONS FOR PA ANNOUNCER ON NOVEMBER 3RD

Longtime Sea Dogs PA Announcer Dean Rogers Steps Aside

Portland, Maine - The Portland Sea Dogs, Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, will host open auditions for the position of Public Address Announcer on Saturday, November 3rd from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at Hadlock Field.

Applicants for the PA Announcer position must be available for all 71 Portland Sea Dogs home games.  In the initial round of auditions, applicants will be judged upon voice quality, delivery, and cadence.  Each applicant will be expected to read a script that will be provided to them.  Interested applicants are required to complete a brief registration form by November 1st.  Registration forms can be found online at www.seadogs.com.

Dean Rogers, who had served as the Sea Dogs' Public Address Announcer since the teams' inception in 1994, has stepped down from the position.  "After 19 seasons it is time to step aside and try something new," said Rogers.  Rogers will remain with the organization.

In addition to serving as the Sea Dogs' Public Address Announcer for the last 19 seasons, Rogers has been a mainstay on Portland radio over the last 40 years.  Rogers is a member of the Maine Broadcaster's Hall of Fame and recipient of the Maine Baseball Hall of Fame's President's Award.  On June 24th, 2012 he had the honor of serving as the Public Address Announcer for the Boston Red Sox when they hosted the Atlanta Braves.

"Dean is a true professional; his iconic voice has been as synonymous with Sea Dogs baseball as Slugger the Sea Dog," stated Sea Dogs Executive Vice-President & General Manager Geoff Iacuessa.  "The Sea Dogs' organization is grateful for Dean's many contributions.  We wish him well and look forward to welcoming his successor."

The Sea Dogs will open their 20th season on April 4th at 6:00 PM against the Trenton Thunder (Yankees).  Individual tickets for the 2013 season will go on sale on Saturday, November 3rd at 9:00 AM.
