Portland, Maine - Two antique hand- carved wooden eagle sculptures stolen from the Custom House Building were recovered today. The eagles were found in the Ocean Gateway Parking Garage located at 167 Fore Street. The garage is just a few blocks from the Custom House where the theft occurred. The eagles appear undamaged and may have been in the garage for several days.
Police received several tips from the public following media coverage of the theft. The speedy recovery of these valuable antique sculptures is credited to media coverage and assistance from the public.
Detectives continue to investigate the theft and ask anyone with information contact the Portland Police Department at 207-874-8533.
