“Treasure
Island” is part of The Grand’s Performing Arts for Children
(PAC) Education Program, offering eight opportunities during the 2012-2013
school-year for children to engage in the performing arts.
Teachers and parents are encouraged to attend with children. Hampstead Stage
Company’s mission is to education audiences throughout the country by bringing
literature to life through live theatre. “Treasure Island” promises to be a
true adventure.
The Grand’s
PAC program continues with these upcoming shows for children at The Grand:
- November 28th, 2012-10:00
am & 11:30 am-
“The Three Wise Men of Spider Creek” presented by the Belfast Maskers’
community theater, this show is a holiday classic on the Laura Ingalls
Wilder “Little House” stories.
- January 28th,
2013- 10:00 am & 11:30 am- “Soul
Street Dance” is an inspirational group of young men (formerly considered
at risk) that found focus through dance and now are working as
professional dancers. They take students on a
high-flying participatory trip from Brazil’s Capoeira to New York’s break
dance as the multi-component form of dance meets the music of 17th century
composer Vivaldi.
- February 8th,
2013 -
10:00 am – “Chimpanzee, the Disney Nature film.
- March 8th, 2013 – 10:00 am – “Arabiqa” Middle
Eastern music and folk dances.
- Tuesday, March
12th, 2013 –
10:00 am – “The Dancing Gauchos” perform dances from Argentina.
Schools and
home-school families can register for the 11:30 am show of The Hampstead Stage
Company’s adaptation of “Treasure Island” and all PAC performances by calling
The Grand box office at 667-9500.
Tickets are $3.00 per person.
