Great Fall Auction Weekend at Owls Head

Owls Head, Maine - "You can find it here." That's the theme of the annual Owls Head Transportation Museum's Great Fall Auction & Flea Market that will be held Sunday, October 28. From movie tickets to a Caribbean vacation, from collectibles to a variety of new and used tools, there will be a wide variety of items up for sale.

The weekend event begins Saturday, Oct. 27 with a giant Flea Market and auction preview from 9:30 am to 5 pm. The fun heats up Sunday with a Silent Auction starting at 8 am. Live Auction bidding will start at 9:30 am. There is no charge to become a bidder and admission to the Museum is free all weekend.

Big ticket items will be auctioned beginning at noon. These special items include a week long all-inclusive stay at the Divi Aruba Resort on the Caribbean island of Aruba; a week home rental in the village of Seillan in the south of France; plus a variety of luxury lodging and dining packages.

The Museum has received hundreds of other donations from local businesses including gift certificates for professional services, lobsters, heating oil, auto supplies, original art, electronics, health club memberships, magazine subscriptions, household items and much more.

The Auction includes several private donations made by members and friends of the Museum. These include pre-owned automobiles as well as antiques, a large selection of office and home furniture and collectibles.

Saturday's flea market will consist of hundreds of donated items not included in auction. Proceeds from the event will be used to support Museum education programs.

Donations will be accepted through October 25.  All donations are tax deductible within the limits of the law.

The Museum is located at 117 Museum Street (off Rt. 73) in Owls Head, three miles south of Rockland. There is plenty of free parking, and refreshments will be available. A current list of auction items is available online at www.owlshead.org and more items are being added daily.  For more information call 207-594-4418.
