The Brown Bag Lunch “Wellness” series continues on Monday, November 12 at noon at the Camden Public Library with a presentation on simple stress relief with Hemi-Sync audio technology. Presented by Rock the Path, a not-for-profit retreat and meditation center in Camden, participants will learn how listening to Hemi-Sync addresses and targets stress. Participants will also have the opportunity to “De-Stress” for themselves with a live Hemi-Sync audio session, and will take home a free Hemi-Sync CD for relaxing and releasing stress at home.
Hemi-Sync uses “binaural beats” created when two tones at slightly different frequencies are presented separately, one to each ear, usually through headphones. The difference between the two tones creates the sensation of hearing a third sound, the binaural beat.“When listening to Hemi-Sync, the brain gently transitions to a synchronized whole brain state, where both hemispheres of the brain work in concert and collaboration. This significantly more focused and coherent state, reached in about 10 minutes or so, is very similar to what experienced meditators achieve, and is optimum for many things, including relaxation and stress reduction, meditation, learning, healing, self-discovery, and significantly, for the development of human potential,” states CJ Kenna, a founding director at the Rock The Path Center.
Says Kenna, “For too many of us, stress has become an accepted condition. Yet as stress accumulates, it robs us of the resources we need to operate efficiently, making us more vulnerable to illness, fatigue, poor brain function, emotional distress, and disease. And just as importantly, being in a state of stress skews our perception of the world, preventing us from being fully present to, and truly enjoying, the people and moments in our lives that matter most.” The De-Stress presentation, tailored specifically for the Wellness series, is designed to help you transform and release stress, while boosting your energy.
The Wellness Brown Bag Lunch series is a collaboration of the library and the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce, held on the second Monday of each month at noon. Upcoming Wellness topics will include: Terry Miller on Cranial Sacral Therapy on December 10; Terry Cline on Architecture and Wellness on January 14; Deb Moskowitz on pediatric applications of Naturopathic Medicine; Tami Rogers on Reiki on April 8; and Barb MacDonald on “What is Naturopathic Medicine and How Does It Optimize Health” on March 13.
